For every hiking enthusiast the location of Pokljuka, in the middle of the Triglav National Park (Slovenia), is an ideal starting point to enjoy wonders of nature and conquer mountain peaks in the area, especially the highest peak in Slovenia – Triglav (2864m/9396ft).
Night climbing is also very popular among hikers. In favorable weather conditions and on well-marked routes using suitable equipment night hikes can be very rewarding.
Just the other day our friends went on a night hike to Triglav and experienced a wonderful and unforgettable sunrise at the highest peak of Slovenia (see the photo gallery).
While It is possible to ascend and descend from Triglav in the same day (15 km/9.3 mi hike), it is advisable to split the trip and find the overnight accommodation in one of the mountain lodges (Planika, Kredarica). This way you will be able to enjoy the wonderful views and beauties of nature without any hurry.
